ASD PARENT SUPPORT
'SUPPORTING EACH OTHER......... TOGETHER'
ASD SUPPORT is a group of parents/carers who have children, both young and older, who suffer from ADHD or Autism. These conditions cannot be cured but thay can be managed. Autism or ADHD can affect all members of the family on different levels and each of us need somewhere to go for support.
The Group was formed by a Mum for parents in the local area as she identified that there was no direct support mechanism for parents/carers to discuss the highs and lows of parenting a child with either of these disorders.
The Group was formed in 2010 and is steadily growing with many families who get together for a cuppa and a chat and generally socialise and swap stories, strategies and advice about parenting. It's also quite social, with a number of events having already taken place and still loads in the planning stages - check out our events page for more details.
Some of the support group evenings will involve someone coming in to talk to us about specific issues - if there is something you'd like more advice on, let us know. You can access many leaflets for free too!
Our website consists of many downloadable documents, feel free to help yourself as there is something to cover a wide range of issues to do with Autism, Aspergers and ADHD.
Come along and join us at a meeting
it's a friendly group and you will be very much welcomed!
